About the role
VCUarts Qatar is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach undergraduate graphic design courses within its BFA program. The role involves guiding students through studio‑based and lecture‑based curricula that emphasize making, research, and cultural literacy in a multicultural Arabic context.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver core and elective studio courses such as Core Studio, Design Practices, Typographic Systems, Web Design, or Book Arts.
- Support students in developing visual and verbal communication skills and foster a non‑hierarchical learning environment.
- Align course outcomes with departmental goals on cultural literacy and contemporary Arabic design.
- Participate in the “Dialogues” series and collaborate with faculty to integrate traditional craft with emerging technologies.
Required profile
- Terminal degree in graphic design (MFA) or a BFA with professional experience equivalent to a terminal degree.
- Demonstrated teaching experience or strong oral presentation and communication abilities.
- Professional portfolio showcasing high‑level typography, color theory, layout, and visual communication.
- Commitment to a respectful, inclusive environment for diverse faculty, staff, and students.
- Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are highly encouraged.
- Eligibility to work in Qatar under local employment regulations.
Required skills
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
