Automation/DCS Technician

About the role

The Automation/DCS Technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and troubleshooting of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), safety systems, PLCs and gas turbine control systems in a fertilizer/chemical plant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance on Honeywell TDC‑3000, Experion, Triconex, Siemens, HIMA, Allen Bradley, GE Mark VI and related control equipment.
• Prepare and obtain cold‑work permits, conduct toolbox meetings and ensure correct tools and safety equipment are used.
• Identify, report and resolve equipment malfunctions to prevent production loss.
• Provide verbal and written work updates for supervisory monitoring.
• Lead and direct contract‑hired manpower during normal operations and shutdown periods.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and proper tool usage.

Required profile

• High School diploma plus 2 years of relevant technical education.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience in fertilizer, petrochemical, chemical or oil & gas industries.
• Hands‑on experience with ammonia, urea, melamine, desalination and chemical processing plants.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of basic signal circuit design, data backup/restore policies and spare‑part procurement procedures.

• Siemens PDCS and GE Mark VI / Vie turbine control systems.
• Data backup and restore procedures.
• Signal circuit design and transmission system architecture.
• Spare‑part selection and procurement processes.
• Fire‑fighting equipment operation and Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system.
