Civil & Structural Engineering Lead

About the role

The Civil & Structural Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing the civil and structural engineering discipline and the FEED/EPC contractor, ensuring all civil and structural design meets technical objectives within the approved scope, budget and schedule. The position starts in Doha and then moves to project site offices in Ras Laffan, Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Guide FEED and EPC contractors, vendors, subcontractors and the pre-comm/comm team to deliver timely, specification-compliant work.
• Ensure civil and structural activities comply with local regulations, codes, standards and project specifications, and that contractors follow safe practices.
• Resolve civil structural discipline issues promptly and coordinate interface work with PMT, RLIC, Operations Engineering and other stakeholders.
• Maintain a project chronology of design revisions for contract administration and monitor schedule, progress and changes.
• Provide input to other disciplines, support FEED, commissioning and system completion, and carry out technical evaluations of complex issues.
• Lead civil and structural interface coordination during FEED/EPC and verify contractor resources and competency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8 years of engineering experience, including 4 years in Oil & Gas and 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role.
• Experience with Oil & Gas companies, EPC contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
• Experience with sour service gas and LNG facilities (onshore) and large offshore platforms or pipelines (offshore).
• Preferred: berth design, seabed dredging and blast design experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of geotechnical, foundation, drainage, precast concrete, steel structures, building and dynamic equipment foundation design.
• Large tank foundation design experience.
• Deep knowledge of civil industry codes, standards and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent written and spoken English, strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills.
