About the role
The Commis III supports the culinary team at a luxury resort by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.
Key responsibilities
- Portion, chop, wash, peel and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
- Weigh, measure, mix and prepare foods according to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
- Cook and assemble cold and hot dishes, ensuring proper presentation and portion sizes.
- Monitor food quality during preparation and test for proper cooking.
- Set up and break down work stations, and maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, tools and equipment.
- Check and record appliance and food temperatures, adhering to food safety policies.
- Follow all company safety, security and hygiene procedures, reporting any issues to the manager.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant kitchen or food‑service experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb for an entire shift.
Required skills
- Operation of ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Food preparation and portioning.
- Basic food safety and temperature control.
- Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards.
