Contingent Large Area Maintenance Shelter Specialist

About the role

The AFCAP V Large Area Maintenance Shelter Specialist provides setup, maintenance, and dismantling of large‑area shelters for U.S. Air Force operations in Qatar and other Middle‑East locations. The role involves hands‑on technical work, supervision of personnel, and strict adherence to safety and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, install, operate, maintain, repair and dispose of LAMS/BEAR shelter structures according to manufacturer manuals.
• Lead and supervise crew members, schedule equipment, materials and personnel for shelter activities.
• Erect, maintain and dismantle shelters while ensuring safety standards and operational readiness.
• Manage inventory, storage and maintenance of tools, equipment and shelter components.
• Provide technical troubleshooting to minimize downtime and keep operations efficient.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance actions, equipment status and incident reports.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 3‑5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• U.S. citizenship with a valid driver’s license, passport (book) and active Secret clearance.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schematics.
• Willingness to work in wartime or contingency environments and travel frequently.

• Expertise with large area maintenance shelter (LAMS/BEAR) systems.
• Inspection, installation and repair of shelter structures.
• Inventory management and asset reporting.
• Use of personal protective equipment and compliance with safety regulations.
