About the role
The Data Governance Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of data governance policies across the bank, ensuring data quality, integrity and compliance with Qatar Central Bank regulations. This role serves as the central coordination point for governance activities, supporting data stewards and business units.
Key responsibilities
- Execute and monitor adherence to data governance policies, standards and procedures organization‑wide.
- Align data governance practices with Qatar Central Bank and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor data quality using automated tools, track metrics and log issues.
- Coordinate root‑cause analysis and remediation with data owners and custodians.
- Maintain and validate end‑to‑end data lineage across systems and reporting layers.
- Manage the enterprise data dictionary, business glossary and metadata repositories.
- Support Data Stewards, act as a key contact across business units, and prepare data quality scorecards and governance dashboards for management.
- Assist with enhancements to data governance tools, including UAT and implementation.
- Validate data governance and quality requirements during system or application deployments.
- Conduct awareness sessions and training to promote data governance practices.
- Prepare documentation, logs and evidence required for internal and external audits.
Required profile
- 8+ years of experience in data management or related roles.
- Minimum 2 years of data governance experience within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management and regulatory requirements.
- Good knowledge of data flows, lineage and lifecycle.
- Experience with data cataloging, metadata management and data quality tools.
- Proven track record of tracking data issues, coordinating remediation and supporting governance processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management across business and IT teams.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.
- Data governance certifications such as CDMP or DCAM (preferred).
