Database Administrator (Banking)

About the role

The Bank is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to design, implement, maintain and optimise its critical database environments. You will ensure data integrity, security and high availability across Sybase, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms while supporting production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, install, upgrade and maintain Sybase ASE, Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Provide 24/7 production support, incident resolution and change/release management.
• Monitor performance, tune queries, and optimise schema migrations.
• Administer SAP Sybase ASE, SAP Replication Server and Microsoft SQL Server replication setups.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, DR/BCP documentation and automation scripts (UNIX shell, PowerShell).
• Ensure license compliance and manage vendor interactions for critical issues.
• Perform regular health checks, consistency checks and entitlement reviews.
• Configure and monitor database mirroring, replication and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Collaborate with IT security to review privileged access and enforce standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise‑level database administration.
• Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP replication technologies and database mirroring.
• Ability to write and maintain automation scripts in UNIX shell and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with change, incident and release management processes.
