Director, Human Research Subjects Protection Program

About the role

The Director of the Human Research Subjects Protection Program (HRPP) leads the administration and oversight of Sidra Medicine’s program to protect human participants in research. This senior position ensures compliance with Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and U.S. Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) regulations and serves as the primary liaison with federal regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain institutional compliance with MOPH and OHRP requirements, and coordinate with regulatory committees, department chairs, and senior administration.
• Oversee and coordinate HRPP activities across all offices, develop and revise policies, and ensure consistent implementation of best practices.
• Supervise IRB administrative staff, manage IRB submission reviews, and administer Responsible Conduct of Research training.
• Provide training for investigators and staff, monitor quality assurance, and lead corrective actions for non‑compliance.
• Lead regulatory agency site visits, analyze audit findings, and update HRPP policies accordingly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical field with 10+ years of progressive experience in human subject protection or related research compliance.
• At least 5 years of direct supervisory/management experience, including oversight of IRBs at an academic medical center.
• Experience in budget management and willingness to obtain CCIP certification within six months.
