Director of Recreation

About the role

The Director of Recreation leads all aspects of the pool and beach facilities, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Reporting to senior management, you will oversee daily operations, staff performance, and the implementation of the brand’s service strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all recreation staff, covering pool, beach, cabana units and children’s programmes.
• Maintain overall cleanliness, safety and upkeep of pool and beach areas.
• Schedule and coordinate events, activities, sand painting, bonfires and team‑building programmes.
• Manage external vendors, including water‑sports and scuba providers.
• Order, control and distribute supplies, equipment, tools and uniforms.
• Develop and run the children’s programme, purchasing equipment and organising activities.
• Ensure exceptional customer service, coach staff and handle guest feedback.
• Conduct administrative duties, employee satisfaction initiatives and financial monitoring to meet budget targets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of recreation/health‑club operations experience, or
• Associate degree in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel & Restaurant Management or related field plus 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proven leadership, strong communication and integrity.
• Ability to make sound financial and business decisions.
