English Teacher

About the role

Durham School for Girls is looking for an English teacher. The role ensures that teaching staff uphold the UK Teaching Standards while aligning with the school's MARK values, policies and the cultural expectations of the Qatari Ministry of Education. It covers delivering high-quality, engaging lessons, maintaining professional conduct, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders, and supporting student well-being.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons, developing a curriculum aligned with subject standards and assessment objectives, using varied strategies and appropriate technology.
• Assess and evaluate student learning, give timely feedback, and adapt instruction to individual needs.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom, manage behaviour, support students' well-being and act on incidents in line with the staff handbook.
• Keep regular contact with students, parents and colleagues, and share progress reports via the school portal, email, iSams or CPOMS.
• Stay current with subject knowledge, curriculum changes and best teaching practice, taking part in professional development and quality assurance.
• Act as an ambassador for the school, take part in school events and extracurricular activities, and follow safeguarding, health and safety and welfare policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in teaching from an accredited institution.
• Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
• Degree subject on the MOE-approved list and required teaching certification for the Qatar MOE.
• English is mandatory.
