Environment Projects & Air Emission Specialist

About the role

This role manages the development and implementation of environmental management systems and projects that prevent pollution and air emissions and conserve resources, ensuring regulatory compliance. It covers strategy and people management, environmental permits, air emissions, leak detection and repair, and project environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Help develop the department's short- to mid-term strategic plan and annual business plans, and monitor key performance indicators
• Manage direct reports, set objectives, mentor and coach staff, and prepare Qatari nationals for future roles
• Contribute to departmental budget preparation and monitor financial performance
• Manage Environmental Health, Social and Impact Assessment Studies (EIAs) and obtain environmental permits from QatarEnergy MIC/RLIC and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change
• Secure Consent to Operate approvals and align projects with company standards and regulations
• Liaise with QatarEnergy on greenhouse gas verification and certification, manage GHG accounting and reporting, oversee flaring calculations and develop emission reduction plans
• Run the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programme across all facilities
• Support project teams in meeting environmental laws and regulations, and improve departmental policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with QHSSE requirements, report incidents and coordinate corrective action plans

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or similar; a Master's degree is preferred
• 5-7 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry; Petrochemicals experience preferred
• Proficiency in English; working knowledge of Arabic preferred
