Finance SME - Core Banking Transformation (Temenos)

About the role

The Finance SME acts as the bridge between business stakeholders, finance teams, technical program streams and vendors during a Temenos core banking transformation. It ensures that corporate banking operations, products (accounts, deposits, financing, payments) and target operating models align with financial accounting standards, regulatory reporting and optimal General Ledger mapping.

Key responsibilities

• Elicit accounting requirements from stakeholders, convert finance workflows into technical specifications and support Business Requirement Documents for the Chart of Accounts and product accounting rules
• Review vendor Functional Specification Documents for financial accuracy and automated accrual/valuation logic
• Perform accounting gap analysis of out-of-the-box Temenos functionality against internal finance policies and regulatory reporting, clarify vendor queries and validate journal entries and balance sheet impacts
• Document To-Be daily, monthly and year-end closing workflows, define system validation rules, reconciliation frameworks and automated posting logic
• Drive GL data mapping of legacy products to new Temenos modules, define data cleansing rules and run trial balance and sub-ledger reconciliations
• Define complex financial test cases (EOD processing, profit distribution, accruals), lead finance UAT and manage financial defects against signed BRDs
• Assess the impact of the transformation on back-office accounting, author updated SOPs and reconciliation guidelines, and review training materials

Required profile

• Minimum 7-10 years as a Finance Consultant or Finance SME in large-scale Temenos core banking transformations
• 7-10 years in Middle East banking, specializing in corporate Islamic banking accounting rules, profit distribution pools and Sharia-compliant product accounting
• Certified Temenos Consultant in relevant modules and a professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) are highly advantageous

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Temenos Core Accounting, Arrangement Architecture (AA) accounting engines and Temenos Payments Hub (TPH) posting lines
