Fire Fighter – Emergency Response

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Leading Fire Fighter, you will respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and rescue calls to protect life, property, and the environment. You will also participate in fire prevention, training, and maintain the fire station and equipment in a ready state.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls, including off‑duty requests.
• Provide first‑aid support and assist medical teams during emergencies.
• Conduct direct firefighting, rescue operations, and fire extinguishing using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Drive and operate fire trucks and rescue equipment defensively and safely.
• Protect property, preserve scene evidence, and follow fire‑ground command strategies.
• Perform daily inspections, testing, and reporting of fire trucks and equipment.
• Participate in all firefighting training and exercise activities.

Required profile

• Secondary school education plus completion of NFPA‑approved Fire Fighting I & II courses or an equivalent recognized Firefighter Recruit Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a firefighter.
• Valid heavy‑vehicle driving licence.
