Fire Safety Coordinator

About the role

The Fire Safety Coordinator will lead the daily activities of the fire technician team and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained and ready for any incident. Acting as the Subject Matter Expert on Emergency Preparedness & Response, this role guarantees the ERT is prepared to respond at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the Emergency Response Team, scheduling training, drills, and managing roster competency.
• Serve as Incident Commander for any emergency situation on the facility.
• Maintain and update the Emergency Preparedness & Response Procedure in line with OE, NFPA, and RLIC requirements.
• Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire safety equipment; record activities and manage repairs.
• Collect and analyse critical safety items such as foam stock, breathing air, and eye‑wash stations.
• Oversee fire extinguisher and breathing‑air inspection programs and supervise third‑party contractors.
• Supply and maintain breathing‑air equipment, ensuring adequate stock of consumables.
• Supervise on‑shift fire and safety coordinators and fire technicians, setting daily tasks and coaching performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in coordinating emergency response teams and fire safety operations.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and applicable emergency preparedness regulations.
• Ability to act as Incident Commander and lead emergency situations.
• Experience managing equipment inspection programs and third‑party contractor activities.
• Capability to develop, revise, and implement standard operating procedures for fire department operations.
