Food & Beverage Captain - Banquet

About the role

Le Méridien is hiring a Food & Beverage Captain for its banquet function at a conference centre in Doha, Qatar. The position is full-time and non-management, and focuses on coordinating service during group events, ensuring rooms and settings are ready, and communicating guest needs to the kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions, and total charges for group functions, preparing and presenting checks to group contacts for payment.
• Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants and coffee breaks are ready for service, with proper centerpieces on every table.
• Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of china, glass and silver before use, and set tables according to event type and service standards.
• Inform the kitchen of additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests, and check in with guests to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and follow company safety and security policies, reporting accidents and unsafe conditions to the manager and completing required safety training.
• Welcome guests according to company standards, speak clearly and professionally, and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
• Move objects up to 25 pounds, stand, sit or walk for long periods, and perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related work experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• No license or certification required.
