Food & Beverage Captain

About the role

The F&B Captain at the InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa ensures the highest standards of food and beverage service in its outlet, delivering dining experiences in line with the hotel's luxury service standards. The role supervises daily service operations, coordinates with the culinary and service teams, supports the Outlet Supervisor and drives guest satisfaction through personalized service and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Outlet Supervisor in overseeing daily restaurant operations and monitor operations, identify improvements and maintain efficiency.
• Supervise service colleagues, train and coach juniors, and promote teamwork and professional conduct.
• Prepare service stations, tables and the dining area to hotel standards, and handle guest bills, payments and cash reconciliation accurately.
• Upsell and suggestively sell to enhance guest experience and increase outlet revenue.
• Coordinate with the Kitchen and Bar teams on orders, menu availability and special requests, and escalate guest concerns to the Outlet Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health and safety regulations, and report complaints, safety hazards and incidents.
• Support special events, promotions and shift handovers, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Service or a related field is an advantage.
• Previous experience as an F&B Captain, Head Waiter or Senior Waiter, preferably in a five-star or luxury hotel.
• Good verbal English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Ability to supervise, guide and motivate colleagues, and to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of F&B service standards, menus, service sequences, upselling and dining etiquette.
• Good knowledge of POS systems, billing procedures and payment handling.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures.
