General Manager - Restaurant

About the role

Marriott International is looking for a General Manager for its restaurant in Doha, Qatar. The role plays a key part in maximising financial performance and attracting hotel and non-hotel guests by understanding the local market and working with culinary leadership. It covers daily restaurant operations, menu planning, sanitation standards and staff support during peak periods, and aims to improve guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the restaurant business: survey demand, partner with local stakeholders, analyse competitors, control purchases and inventory, negotiate prices and apply revenue management strategies.
• Oversee marketing and public relations: work with the hotel general manager or director of operations and marketing teams, run social media posts and public event communications, and act as main contact for restaurant events.
• Manage day-to-day operations: supervise staff, maintain service and sanitation standards, run daily taste panels, monitor compliance with laws, liquor control and food safety policies, and oversee purchasing and payments.
• Deliver memorable guest experiences: coach staff, handle complaints, gather guest feedback and ensure service from arrival to departure.
• Lead human resources: take part in hiring, set performance standards, develop training programmes, mentor staff, manage staffing levels and keep an open-door policy.
• Keep up with industry trends, analyse results and solve problems.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major.
• 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary or a related field, or 2 years of experience with a 2-year degree.
