Head of AJMI Operations

About the role

The Head of AJMI Operations will lead the operational, technical and facilities functions that support Al Jazeera Media Institute’s training programmes, workshops, conferences and media development initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, this senior position ensures the seamless delivery of learning and production activities across multiple specialised environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of training facilities, studios, control rooms, editing suites, classrooms and theatres.
• Ensure readiness and availability of technical systems, audiovisual equipment, production gear and event infrastructure.
• Coordinate operational and technical support for media training programmes, practical exercises and live demonstrations.
• Manage facility bookings, resource scheduling and utilisation planning.
• Work with Engineering and Technology teams on maintenance, upgrades, lifecycle planning and fault resolution.
• Maintain operational documentation, equipment inventories and asset records.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance service quality, resource utilisation and facility effectiveness.
• Prepare performance, utilisation and service reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing media‑related training facilities or similar operational environments.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple technical and logistical functions.
• Excellent coordination abilities with engineering, technology and production teams.
• Track record of delivering operational improvements and reporting on performance metrics.
