Head of AJMI Operations

About the role

The Head of AJMI Operations will lead the Al Jazeera Media Institute’s operations function, overseeing technical, facility and service support for training programmes, workshops, conferences and media development initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, the role provides strategic leadership and ensures the delivery of high-quality learning and production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of AJMI training facilities, studios, control rooms, editing suites, classrooms and theatres.
• Ensure operational readiness of technical systems, production equipment, audiovisual and event infrastructure.
• Coordinate technical and operational support for media training programmes, practical exercises and live demonstrations.
• Manage facility bookings, resource scheduling and utilisation planning.
• Work with Engineering and Technology teams on maintenance, upgrades, lifecycle planning and fault resolution.
• Maintain documentation, equipment inventories and facility utilisation reports.
• Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance service quality and resource efficiency.
• Prepare performance and utilisation reports for senior management.
• Support strategic development and future expansion of AJMI facilities and services.

Required profile

• Proven strategic leadership of operational functions within a media or training environment.
• Accountability for operational excellence, service quality and compliance.
• Experience managing technical facilities, production equipment and learning environments.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
