Head of Distribution – Business Unit Leader

About the role

The Head of Distribution will lead the Distribution Business Unit, overseeing commercial, operational and financial performance. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape strategy, drive revenue growth, expand market presence and ensure profitable, customer‑focused operations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the long‑term strategy for the distribution unit, aligning with corporate vision.
• Identify market opportunities, industry trends and competitive threats to guide growth initiatives.
• Lead business development activities, negotiate commercial contracts and build strategic partnerships with customers, vendors and channel partners.
• Oversee end‑to‑end distribution operations including procurement, inventory management, logistics, warehousing and order fulfilment.
• Monitor operational KPIs, implement improvements and optimise supply‑chain efficiency and costs.
• Own the unit P&L, prepare budgets, forecasts and financial plans, and drive profitability and ROI.
• Build, mentor and manage a high‑performing leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal requirements and industry regulations, managing risk and governance.
• Present performance results to executive leadership and represent the business at industry events.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a large, profit‑center or business unit in distribution, logistics or related commercial environments.
• Strong track record of revenue growth, market expansion and operational optimisation.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to analyse financial data, manage budgets and drive profitability.
• Strategic thinker with a results‑oriented mindset.
