Head of Innovation

About the role

The Head of Innovation will lead Al Jazeera Media Network’s Innovation section, guiding a team of Innovation Leads to elevate broadcast standards and embed innovative thinking across live and pre/post‑production operations. Reporting to the Manager of Innovation and Compliance, this role translates strategic vision into concrete standards, workflows, and improvement programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and allocate work for Innovation Leads, ensuring consistent high‑quality standards.
• Maintain deep knowledge of news programming, live news operations, and all control‑room and pre/post‑production positions.
• Collaborate with editorial leadership to define and implement the vision for studio and post‑production operations.
• Oversee planning and execution of studio changes, including set designs, graphics, new shows, and workflow adjustments.
• Establish, document and govern standard policies for studio and production teams.
• Direct technical realisation of newsroom, edit and studio output to meet editorial requirements.
• Coordinate with technology teams to ensure the full production chain, including studio automation, functions correctly and is continuously monitored.
