Industrial Control Systems Lead

About the role

The Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Lead is responsible for the operation, security, reliability, and modernization of critical infrastructure control systems at Al Udeid Air Base. This position provides technical leadership for SCADA, PLC, and building automation systems that support power, water, fuel, HVAC, and other mission‑critical utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, train and mentor ICS/HVAC control technicians, assign daily tasks and manage shift schedules.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC control systems, BAS, and SCADA platforms to ensure continuous mission‑critical service.
• Diagnose complex control system issues, lead troubleshooting, and approve corrective actions and system modifications.
• Manage system upgrades, expansions, and integration of new equipment while maintaining documentation, network diagrams and asset inventories.
• Enforce access control, configuration management, change management, and compliance with OSHA, Air Force and host‑nation safety standards.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs and performance metrics; coordinate with vendors, contractors and internal teams.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of experience specializing in industrial control systems.
• Master Operator Training in Building Automation Systems.
• Experience working in secure, mission‑critical or industrial environments.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and a residency visa for Qatar.
• Willingness to work in extreme environmental conditions and be on‑call for emergency response.
