Industrial Hygiene Technician

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is hiring an Industrial Hygiene Technician in Qatar on a contract basis. The role supports the Industrial Hygiene (IH) team in implementing and running the IH program across site operations, covering physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out IH surveys and monitoring across sites for multiple exposure parameters, collect data and prepare reports
• Maintain and operate fixed and portable monitoring equipment, and log results accurately
• Prepare sampling media and consumables, coordinate sample dispatch to external labs and maintain inventory
• Take part in plant audits, compliance audits, permit-to-work audits, and Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Chemical monitoring per the EAS plan
• Support Health Risk Assessments, conduct ergonomic assessments, manual handling evaluations, heat stress prevention, fatigue risk management, indoor air quality and environmental surveys
• Inspect Food Safety and Hygiene and Workers Welfare, perform respirator fit testing and radiation protection compliance checks
• Maintain weather station data, analyse heat index trends and help with equipment calibration and rental contracts
• Provide administrative support, including meeting coordination and data analysis with Microsoft Office tools

Required profile

• Degree or higher technical diploma in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or a related field
• 5 years of IH monitoring experience or equivalent, e.g. as a Safety Officer in oil and gas or refineries
• Strong knowledge of physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards
• Good written and spoken English, computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Valid Qatar driving licence
