Instrumentation Technician – Maintenance (Doha, Qatar)

About the role

The Instrumentation Technician – Maintenance will ensure reliable operation of field instrumentation across gas turbines, steam turbines, waste‑heat boilers and desalination plant auxiliaries. The role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, re‑commissioning and maintaining instruments to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to breakdowns and planned maintenance of power and desalination plant instrumentation with minimal supervision.
• Assess job requirements, select appropriate tools and equipment, and order spare parts via the computerized maintenance system.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety procedures and plant operational standards.
• Report recurring failures and support root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) to develop optimal solutions.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to new craftsmen, enhancing their technical capabilities.

Required profile

• Higher secondary education or diploma.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools and strong knowledge of plant safety.
• Previous experience in a power or desalination plant, preferably with calibration of pressure, temperature, level and flow devices.
• Exposure to pneumatic & hydraulic valve actuation, CO₂ fire‑protection, and infrared gas detection systems.
• Ability to work under time pressure, on shift duty, and in hot, dirty environments at height.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
