Junior Sous Chef - Catering Services

About the role

Qatar Airways is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join its Catering Services team in Doha. The candidate is responsible for operating the assigned section in all shifts, keeping it properly manned so that meals are prepared according to the production plan and within HACCP guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Check and maintain food orders for Amiri and VVIP flight preparations.
• Support Sous Chefs in planning menu presentations and in evaluating manpower and equipment needs for upcoming changes.
• Work with the Stores department to ensure raw materials are available 72 hours before the menu starts.
• Ensure all flights in the shift receive their requirements on time with zero delays.
• Supervise food production areas and ensure they meet required standards.
• Organise the smooth operation of Amiri and other private flights from the section.
• Report unresolved issues to the Sous Chef or higher management.
• Check that dishes are served at the correct portion size and quality, and that health, safety and hygiene rules are followed.

Required profile

• At least a high school qualification with a minimum of 6 years of job-related experience.
• Ability to supervise and train a large, diverse workforce and to manage in a high-pressure environment.
• Awareness of trends in the fine dining service industry.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of food and beverages.
• Basic food hygiene and HACCP skills.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking of English.
• Computer literacy.
