Laundry Manager

About the role

The Laundry Manager is responsible for the daily operations and services of the hotel laundry, directing and working with staff to wash, dry and iron linen for guest rooms and the Food and Beverage/Culinary Department within existing time constraints. The position maintains a safe and clean work environment, aims to satisfy guests and employees and maximizes the department's financial performance. It is a full-time management position based in Doha West Bay.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations, quality and standards, and supervise and manage employees, covering for them when absent
• Communicate safety procedures and codes, monitor safety processes, and bring issues to the department manager and Human Resources
• Understand budgets, operating statements and payroll reports, and help achieve or exceed budgeted goals through controllable expenses
• Supervise daily shift operations, order and manage supplies, equipment, tools and uniforms within budget, and work with Engineering on equipment maintenance
• Operate department equipment, report malfunctions, develop backup plans for breakdowns and implement new techniques and equipment
• Lead teams by example, build trust and cooperation, coach and mentor staff, and recruit, hire, schedule and promote employees
• Schedule staff, track time and attendance, solicit feedback, manage progressive discipline and performance appraisals, and recognize employee contributions
• Provide exceptional customer service, guide guests on their needs and empower employees to deliver excellent service

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in laundry, housekeeping or a related professional area
