Lead Surface and Ground Water Hydraulic Modeller

About the role

Stantec is hiring a Lead Surface and Ground Water Hydraulic Modeller in Doha, Qatar. The role covers projects on wet infrastructure (wastewater, stormwater, potable and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment, flood management and water resources studies). You will develop, calibrate and analyse complex drainage and hydraulic models to help clients plan, design and operate their surface and groundwater assets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop hydraulic models for master planning, concept, preliminary and detailed design of wet infrastructure
• Review, organise and analyse data; carry out modelling, validation, calibration and verification
• Develop method statements and hydraulic modelling reports, and check and lead the work of others
• Produce maps in CAD and GIS to present modelling results
• Collaborate with peer engineers, other discipline teams, sub-consultants and sub-contractors
• Manage client and stakeholder meetings, present and defend modelling outputs, and support bid preparation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering
• 15+ years of experience in hydraulic modelling of surface and groundwater networks, including master planning, catchment analysis, infiltration modelling and flow diversion strategies
• Familiarity with SGW tunnels, outfalls and major drainage corridors
• Professional accreditation (Chartered/PE or equivalent) or working towards it
• Good client service, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, and fluent English (Arabic preferred)

Required skills

• Advanced hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, SewerGEMS and InfoSewer
• AutoCAD and ArcGIS
• Experience with wet infrastructure design standards in GCC countries and local and international codes
