Legal Risk Advisor

About the role

The Legal Risk Advisor will ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of legal risk management processes within the Credit Risk Section. The role involves identifying legal implications of contractual commitments, providing proactive advice, and safeguarding the bank’s interests in line with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Legal Risk unit’s strategy, policies and annual business plans.
• Monitor regulatory changes from the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and other authorities, recommending necessary adjustments.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support functional and strategic needs.
• Review and re‑assess standard contract documentation for syndication, corporate, retail lending and investment management.
• Identify and highlight high‑risk legal issues arising from credit transactions and coordinate mitigation actions.
• Ensure all documentary requirements are met before transaction execution.
• Develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to improve turnaround time for legal risk reviews.
• Liaise with the Legal Advisor and guide the team in preparing standard documentation templates.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of local and international laws and regulations applicable to banking and credit risk.
• Ability to stay updated on regulatory requirements, especially those issued by the QCB.
• Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
