Life Guard

About the role

Kempinski is looking for a Life Guard in Doha, Qatar, to ensure the safety and security of guests at the poolside. This is a permanent, full-time position in the Spa & Recreation sector.

Key responsibilities

• Protect the safety of guests and employees in the swimming areas (beach and pool) during posted business hours, holding an active certification from a recognised world lifeguard association.
• Respond to emergencies in the hotel swimming or pool area and keep the areas clear of motorised boats, windsurfers and sea bikes, and keep swimmers and snorkelers away from hazardous zones.
• Ensure a powered rescue boat is always available and keep the safety set-up ready: flotation devices, correct safety flags, rescue surfboard and boat, First Aid kit, and information on business hours, pool depths, water and air temperatures and wind speed.
• Log windsurfers, sailing boats and sea bikes, their crew and movements, and monitor or organise rescues at sea.
• Make sure water sports and pool activities follow security rules, arrange temporary relief during breaks, and report and fix hazards immediately.
• Follow the Employee Handbook and fire, hygiene, health and safety policies, and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a 5-star international hotel.
• College education and a lifeguard certification.
• Commitment to professional values and integrity, guest-oriented and able to build rapport quickly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in mouth-to-mouth artificial resuscitation and CPR.
• Strong swimming ability and good working knowledge of health club and swimming pool operations.
