Mechanical Engineer – Air Force Contract Augmentation (Doha, Qatar)

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will support the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and centralized utility plants.

Key responsibilities

• Attend project meetings and provide engineering input.
• Conduct construction inspections, quality control, and submittal reviews.
• Travel to local sites outside the base to verify compliance and workmanship.
• Review and analyze HVAC, plumbing, and fire‑suppression systems for code compliance.
• Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of heat, gas, water, and steam systems.
• Prepare and review mechanical drawings and specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction or facility maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management, and construction management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2025 or later.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
• Experience reviewing HVAC, plumbing, and fire‑suppression systems.
• Familiarity with central utility plants and energy‑efficiency technologies (desired).
