Mechanical Fitter – Machinery Maintenance & Overhaul

About the role

The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling machinery to company standards within a shipyard environment. You will work closely with supervisors and engineers to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain target production throughput while adhering to Section Plan, KPIs and company values.
• Follow health, safety, security and environmental policies to protect yourself and others.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems on production equipment.
• Assist in root cause analysis reporting and communicate defective components to supervisors.
• Support commissioning of new machinery and re‑commissioning of repaired equipment.
• Read technical drawings, work orders and production schedules to execute maintenance tasks.
• Use materials economically, maintain tools, equipment and housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• Technical Certificate in Machine, Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance, or a Machine Repair Apprenticeship.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely, follow procedures and comply with quality management controls.
• Willingness to prioritize personal and colleague wellbeing and report safety concerns.
