Mechanical QA/QC Engineer (6‑month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join a construction project in Qatar on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract, extendable to one year. The role focuses on proactive identification and liquidation of outstanding quality items to ensure smooth project closeout.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections of mechanical works (piping, HVAC, equipment installation) and produce detailed inspection reports.
• Raise, track and close Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor compliance with project quality plans, specifications and codes such as ASME, API and NFPA.
• Manage QCDD approval procedures and submissions for mechanical systems.
• Develop and maintain QA/QC dashboards and regular quality performance reports for management.
• Identify pending quality items, create liquidation plans and ensure timely resolution.
• Witness and verify pressure testing, hydrostatic testing and pre‑commissioning activities.
• Liaise with site teams, contractors and consultants to resolve quality issues and support audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 8 years of QA/QC experience on mechanical works in construction/infrastructure projects.
• Hands‑on knowledge of QCDD approval procedures and experience in backlog identification and punch‑list management.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASME, API and NFPA codes.
• Experience with QCDD approval processes for mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in NCR management and pressure/hydrostatic testing.
• Ability to create and maintain QA/QC dashboards and reports.
