Mechanical Technician - Commercial Vehicles

About the role

Al-Futtaim Automotive is looking for a skilled and dependable Mechanical Technician to join its Commercial Vehicles Aftersales team in Doha. The technician inspects, diagnoses, maintains and repairs commercial trucks and buses, carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs to manufacturer standards, workshop procedures and health and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs on commercial trucks and buses.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Repair engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, electrical systems and other components.
• Read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, repair instructions and manufacturer specifications.
• Identify required parts and support repair estimates and job completion.
• Conduct road tests and functional checks where authorised to verify repairs.
• Record findings, work done, parts used and further requirements on the job card.
• Maintain tools, equipment and the work area safely and cleanly.
• Follow workshop procedures and health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Report additional faults, recurring technical concerns and safety issues to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Take part in technical training and keep up with new commercial vehicle systems.

Required profile

• ITI, diploma or technical qualification in Automotive Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Auto Electrical or a related field.
• Hands-on experience servicing and repairing commercial trucks, buses or other heavy vehicles.
• Preferred: experience in an authorised dealership, commercial vehicle workshop, fleet operation or OEM environment; practical use of manufacturer or multi-brand diagnostic systems; manufacturer-specific training.
• Valid driving licence preferred.
• Attention to detail, good time management, ability to work independently and communicate well in English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of modern vehicle electronics and CAN bus systems is an advantage.
• Basic computer skills for accessing technical information and updating repair records.
