Munitions QC Specialist – Quality Assurance for Explosives

About the role

The Munitions QC Specialist ensures that all explosives processes within the Munitions Department meet rigorous quality, safety, and environmental standards. Acting as the site focal point for Amentum Weapons Safety, the role conducts inspections, audits, and risk assessments to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and Air Force directives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform random quality inspections on munitions receiving, shipping, storage, accountability, maintenance, procurement, and transportation.
• Monitor workshop practices, housekeeping, and explosive handling to identify discrepancies and negative trends.
• Conduct outbound shipment inspections, including validation photography and tool/equipment checks.
• Review production schedules, work orders, technical order files, and Air Force standards for accuracy and currency.
• Coordinate the review and annual validation of written procedures, emergency action checklists, and safety waivers.
• Assist in developing and delivering departmental training programs and audit training documentation.
• Evaluate weapons‑safety issues, conduct spot inspections of explosive operations, and perform risk assessments for corrective action.

Required profile

• Proven experience in quality control or inspection within a munitions, explosives, or defense environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and weapons‑safety regulations.
• Ability to interpret Air Force technical orders and compliance directives.
• Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and trend analysis.
