Munitions Technician – USAF Munitions Operations

About the role

The Munitions Technician is responsible for receiving, storing, inspecting, testing, transporting and maintaining United States Air Force (USAF) munitions, related handling equipment and supporting resources at the assigned site. The role involves operating the Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS) and may include supervising an Other Country National (OCN) munitions workforce while ensuring compliance with the Performance Work Statement and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and enforce all USAF and host‑nation explosives safety, AFOSH and security standards during all operations.
• Conduct munitions work according to established quality processes, identifying problems and recommending solutions.
• Recondition, repair and replace defective or missing parts of munitions and containers.
• Perform munitions storage actions, warehouse inventories and discrepancy corrections.
• Prepare and configure munitions shipments for air, sea and surface transportation.
• Operate and maintain light vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, manual hoists and other handling equipment.
• Inspect and maintain metal‑strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors and power tools.
• Provide safety briefings, supervise crew members and perform stand‑by duties as required.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of USAF Supply and Technical Order systems or equivalent US service systems.
• Ability to work safely with explosives and non‑explosives in compliance with AFOSH standards.
• Willingness to work extended periods outdoors and on‑site in a warehouse or maintenance shop environment.
• Capability to supervise OCN personnel and coordinate with operations staff.
• Readiness to perform stand‑by duties during peacetime and combat contingencies.
