Partial Discharge (PD) Engineer – High Voltage Asset Monitoring

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Partial Discharge (PD) Engineer to join our team and support the reliability of high‑voltage transmission and distribution substations. The role focuses on performing PD testing, condition monitoring, and diagnostic assessments to ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Partial Discharge testing and condition monitoring on transmission and distribution substations.
• Follow approved procedures, method statements, project specifications, and industry standards during inspections.
• Apply PD detection techniques and diagnostic methods to identify defects and evaluate asset condition.
• Analyze test data, report abnormalities, and advise the Team Leader on findings.
• Maintain compliance with high‑voltage safety procedures, permit‑to‑work systems, and HSE requirements.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain PD testing instruments according to manufacturers' guidelines.
• Prepare accurate technical reports, test records, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in training, safety programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full‑time Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations.
• Proven expertise in Partial Discharge testing and electrical asset diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of high‑voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
