Plumber / Hotel Maintenance Engineer

About the role

W Hotels is hiring a full-time, non-management plumber for its property in West Bay, Doha, Qatar. The role covers guest repair requests, preventive maintenance and basic MEP troubleshooting, with the expectation of mentoring other engineers and performing Engineer on Duty rounds.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect them
• Carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves, and maintain maintenance inventory
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical items, pumps and motors, and perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems
• Program TVs, assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean up work areas
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system and follow safety and security policies
• Train and mentor other engineers and perform Engineer on Duty duties

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background preferred
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience preferred
• Valid driver's license
• No supervisory experience required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and climb stairs, ramps and ladders

Required skills

• Basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe, including soldering
• Proficiency in one category and above-average skills in two more of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, energy conservation and building management
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools and engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
• CFC certification and compliance with applicable state and federal certification/licensing requirements
