Public Relations Coordinator

About the role

The Public Relations Coordinator will lead the development and execution of proactive communication strategies that inform, connect, and engage students, staff, parents, and the wider community. This role also oversees school publications and the crisis communication plan.

Key responsibilities

• Create and lead a strategic communications plan, managing its implementation and evaluation.
• Develop programs that maintain a positive public image for the school.
• Assist with design, implementation, and analysis of surveys and other feedback tools.
• Build relationships with local print, radio, and television outlets.
• Coach staff on effective communication techniques.
• Coordinate recognition events for staff and students.
• Stay current on legal and public‑relations best practices.
• Write and distribute news releases, manage media relations, and act as the school’s public information source.
• Produce content for newsletters, flyers, brochures, social media, and other communication channels.
• Supervise electronic communications, including broadcasting board meetings and updating the school website.
• Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, leadership, and external agencies.
• Prepare and deliver oral and written presentations to varied audiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations or communications.
• Strong understanding of legal and public‑relations practices.
• Proven ability to develop crisis communication plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
