Public Relations Officer

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Public Relations Officer in Qatar to coordinate between internal and external stakeholders for a specific project. The role handles public complaints and feedback related to construction projects and liaises with residents, municipalities, government departments and embassies.

Key responsibilities

• Handle, deal with and resolve complaints, feedback and conflicts from the public and residents about construction project inconveniences.
• Hold open dialogues with the public, residents, municipalities, the Ministry of Interior, traffic police, government departments and embassies on PR issues as directed.
• Visit affected residents regularly and ad hoc, report back to clients and residents, and work with the construction supervision team to minimise inconvenience.
• Translate documents and emails while keeping the original meaning, proofread and edit them, and give clients a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version.
• Handle correspondence from clients and site teams and liaise with technical staff on unclear points.

Required profile

• Degree with at least 4 years of overall experience in public relations and communication, including at least 3 years focused on public customer service.
• Experience working in Qatar is required; experience in public relations within the construction industry is an advantage.
• Good understanding of Qatari culture.
• Ability to work under pressure when handling public complaints.

Required skills

• Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic, with good oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in keyboard skills and working knowledge of MS Windows, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
• Mandatory computer skills and the ability to use design software.
