Research Physicist – Freelance AI Trainer

About the role
We are looking for a freelance research physicist to create challenging optics and broader physics problems that will be used to test and improve AI systems. The work is project‑based, flexible and conducted remotely for leading tech companies.
Key responsibilities
- Design original optics problems that simulate real physics research workflows.
- Ensure each problem is computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within days or weeks.
- Develop problem sets covering mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics.
- Base problems on genuine research challenges or practical applications from optics and physics practice.
- Write clear problem statements and provide verified correct solutions.
Required profile
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental or computational) or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in applied research, teaching or related work.
- Experience with numerical simulation methods and physics modeling.
- Strong written English (C1 level or higher).

- Mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics knowledge
- Numerical simulation and approximation techniques
- Physics modeling and workflow replication
What we offer
- Project‑based assignments with an estimated workload of 10‑20 hours per week during active phases.
- Compensation up to $35 per hour, depending on expertise and contribution speed.
