Research Specialist – Epidemiology (Level 4)

About the role

We are seeking a Research Specialist (Level 4) in Epidemiology to join the Research Division of Weill Cornell Medicine‑Qatar. Working with minimal supervision from the Principal Investigator, you will design studies, manage data collection, perform statistical analyses, and help disseminate findings across a range of epidemiologic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design of epidemiologic studies, including development of instruments and protocols.
• Calculate sample sizes, conduct power analyses, and perform systematic literature reviews and meta‑analyses.
• Execute a variety of statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, Stata, SAS, S‑PLUS or R, and develop new analytical methods.
• Maintain detailed records, logs and summary reports of data and analyses.
• Prepare draft research plans for grant applications and contribute to manuscript preparation for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Support presentations at scientific meetings and perform other duties related to epidemiologic research as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with five + years of experience, or an MSc/MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics.
• Proven track record of scientific research and publications in peer‑reviewed journals (preferred).
• Strong initiative, excellent written and spoken English, and ability to communicate scientific results effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical packages: SPSS, Stata, SAS, S‑PLUS, R.
• Experience conducting epidemiologic and biostatistical research.
• Knowledge of communicable and non‑communicable disease epidemiology (desirable).
