Senior AI Engineer

About the role

The Senior AI Engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced Agentic AI solutions and enterprise AI platforms within the Data & AI Lab of Commercial Bank of Qatar. This role combines hands‑on technical delivery with technical leadership to ensure production‑grade, scalable AI systems that meet banking regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of complex Agentic AI solutions, including autonomous workflows and multi‑agent systems.
• Architect AI platform components such as vector stores, embedding pipelines, and retrieval systems.
• Define and enforce API standards and integration patterns for AI services across the bank.
• Lead cloud architecture for AI solutions on Azure and GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and cost optimization.
• Design event‑driven architectures using Kafka and establish infrastructure standards for model serving on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Provide technical mentorship, conduct design and code reviews, and ensure CI/CD, testing, and documentation best practices.
• Collaborate with product owners and senior management to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure compliance with data policies and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years focused on AI/ML applications.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery of AI solutions in production environments.
• Mandatory experience in banking or financial services, with knowledge of regulatory compliance and data governance.

Required skills

• Advanced Python programming.
• Deep learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Model deployment and lifecycle tools: MLflow, TFX.
• Experience with LLMs, embedding models, generative AI, vector databases, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• AI orchestration frameworks and multi‑agent system development (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel).
• Cloud platforms: Azure and/or GCP; containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Event‑driven architecture using Kafka; data engineering tools: Spark, Airflow, Apache NiFi.
• Advanced SQL (stored procedures, window functions, recursive queries).
• Version control (Git, GitHub/GitLab) and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
