Senior Arbitration Counsel

About the role

Al-Ansari & Associates is seeking a Senior Arbitration Counsel to lead complex arbitration matters in Lusail, Qatar. The successful candidate will manage cases from assessment through award enforcement, working closely with local and international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review arbitration clauses, pleadings, submissions and procedural documents.
• Advise clients on strategy, risks and settlement options.
• Coordinate with counsel, experts and witnesses, and appear before arbitral tribunals.
• Oversee evidence gathering and ensure compliance with institutional rules and Qatari law.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to business development.
• Support development of the firm’s arbitration practice in construction, banking & finance, and corporate disputes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international and domestic arbitration, including case management and tribunal appearances.
• Strong background in commercial, construction, banking and finance, corporate and infrastructure disputes.
• Deep knowledge of Qatari law and major arbitration rules (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, QICCA).
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical and research abilities.
• Proven leadership of case teams and mentorship of junior lawyers.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus.
• LLB or equivalent from a recognized university; admission to practice in a recognized jurisdiction.
