Senior Category Engineer

About the role

The Senior Category Engineer links the Technical Duet with Contracts & Procurement to define and execute medium‑term category strategies for NOC, focusing on cost control, supplier alignment and performance measurement.

Key responsibilities

• Define and regularly update the purchasing strategy for the assigned category, including needs analysis, market intelligence and implementation plans.
• Lead the Category Management process, set KPIs, monitor performance and report progress to the Category Lead and relevant committees.
• Coordinate tendering, supplier qualification, negotiations and framework contract updates.
• Maintain a strategic supplier panel, monitor major supplier risks and ensure compliance with quality, safety and HSE standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of post‑graduate experience in purchasing goods/services within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of petroleum equipment, specifications, manufacturers and certification requirements.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with technical and procurement teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with C&P tools such as SAP, MPP, GEP and Coconut.
• Understanding of category analysis tools (SWOT, Porter, purchasing matrix, price benchmarks).
• CIPS certification is an advantage.
