Senior Category Specialist – Strategic Sourcing

About the role

SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking a Senior Category Specialist to support the Head of Category in the Commercial Division, Strategic Sourcing department. The role focuses on executing category strategies, leading complex sourcing projects, and managing supplier relationships for the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and execution of category strategies aligned with corporate growth and sustainability goals.
• Lead complex tenders, sourcing events and negotiations, ensuring compliance with QAFCO procurement policies.
• Manage supplier contracts, renewals, performance reviews and resolve non‑conformances.
• Track and report category KPIs, savings and supplier performance to senior management.
• Mentor Category Specialists and fresh graduates as part of local talent development.
• Promote the use of AI, automation and digital tools to improve category management.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or BSc/BCom from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement or supply‑management experience in Oil & Gas or petrochemicals.
• Professional certification in supply chain (CIPS, CPSM or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of the full procurement cycle, Incoterms, commercial/legal terms and international trade insurance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP S/4 HANA.
• Proficiency with SAP Ariba.
