Senior Consultant, Offensive Security (Unit 42)

About the role

Palo Alto Networks is hiring a Senior Consultant for its Offensive Security team (Unit 42). You will assess and challenge the security posture of a diverse client portfolio, acting as the client's advocate for cybersecurity best practices and giving strong, actionable recommendations against sophisticated threats. The role is remote, with hybrid teams collaborating across geographies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive penetration tests (network, web application, cloud, mobile) to identify and exploit vulnerabilities.
• Deliver assessments using Palo Alto Networks Frontier AI Defense test harnesses and platforms with the latest frontier models.
• Develop custom scripts, tools and methodologies to automate and improve offensive security engagements and internal processes.
• Engage proactively with clients, explaining testing approaches to technical and executive audiences.
• Generate detailed reports with test results, risks and remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to align on security objectives.
• Assist in scoping new opportunities and building internal infrastructure for offensive security R&D.
• Travel as needed to meet business demands.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in information security, focused on penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
• Demonstrated experience running penetration tests on Windows, Linux and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Required skills

• Security assessment tools: Metasploit, Burp Suite Pro, Cobalt Strike, Nessus, Bloodhound.
• Scripting or programming in Python, PowerShell, Ruby or C++.
• Preferred: interest in LLM-driven offensive security, certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, GPEN, GWAPT or GXPN, and experience with public speaking, research publication or community contributions.
