Senior Data Science Expert

About the role

The Senior Data Science Expert will design and deliver advanced machine‑learning solutions for Commercial Bank of Qatar, covering pricing optimisation, customer propensity modelling and recommendation systems. The role blends deep statistical expertise with extensive banking domain knowledge to turn complex business challenges into measurable AI‑driven outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and prototype ML models for dynamic pricing, rate optimisation, churn prediction, cross‑sell, upsell and personalised product recommendations.
• Collaborate with Risk, Finance and business units to identify high‑value modelling opportunities and ensure models meet regulatory and risk constraints.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, create visualisations and translate model outputs into actionable business insights aligned with KPIs.
• Document model methodology, assumptions and limitations, and work with ML/AI engineers to move prototypes to production.

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or a quantitative field.
• 8+ years of data‑science or quantitative analysis experience, with at least 5 years in banking or financial services.
• Proven track record delivering ML models in pricing, propensity or recommendation domains.
• Experience with model validation, governance and regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS 9, Basel).

Required skills

• Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, XGBoost, etc.)
• Advanced SQL (stored procedures, window functions, recursive queries)
• Deep‑learning frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch
• Version control with Git (GitHub/GitLab)
• Basic Spark for large‑scale data processing
• MLOps tools such as MLflow or TFX
