Senior Lead Auditor – Industrial Construction

About the role

The Senior Lead Auditor – Industrial Construction will lead complex, risk‑based internal audit engagements across construction, engineering, project management and related technology processes. The role provides independent assurance on governance, risk management, internal controls, compliance and project controls, helping the organization strengthen accountability and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute audit engagements in line with the annual audit plan and internal methodology.
• Develop audit programs, risk‑control matrices, testing procedures and work plans tailored to business risk and project complexity.
• Conduct walkthroughs, interviews, data analysis, sampling and testing to evaluate design and operating effectiveness of controls.
• Review controls across the construction project lifecycle, including tendering, budgeting, contract administration, procurement, cost control, billing and project close‑out.
• Assess compliance with budgets, contracts, delegation of authority, procurement procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Identify risks such as cost overruns, delays, duplicate payments, unauthorized commitments and ineffective monitoring.
• Prepare clear audit workpapers, coordinate with process owners, and validate findings before final reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit, preferably within construction, engineering or large‑scale project environments.
• Strong understanding of construction project controls, cost management, contract administration and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to analyse complex data, identify control weaknesses and recommend practical improvements.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with senior stakeholders and presenting audit results.
