Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support for our operations across Qatar and the wider GCC region. The role involves handling complex commercial transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and representing the company in legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and deliver comprehensive advice on transactions, joint ventures, franchising, and licensing across Qatar and the GCC.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents in English and Arabic, ensuring compliance with Qatari and international laws.
• Advise on compliance with local regulations, identify legal risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Assist business and GA teams in obtaining licenses and permits for retail, logistics, warehousing, and related operations.
• Collaborate with senior management and business units to meet legal requirements in all activities.
• Support communication with Qatari authorities and external stakeholders to maintain a business‑friendly regulatory environment.
• Represent the company in court proceedings, negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution forums.
• Monitor changes in Qatari and GCC legal landscapes and inform internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a high‑quality network of external law firms and advisors in Qatar.
• Work with the global legal team to ensure consistent compliance standards across jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in Qatar.
• Deep knowledge of Qatari corporate, contract, commercial, labor, and regulatory law.
• Native Arabic speaker with fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with Qatari licensing procedures and government approvals.
• Experience in retail, logistics, warehousing, or delivery sectors is advantageous.
