Senior Mechanical Engineer – Plumbing & Fire Protection Design

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, coordination and delivery of plumbing and fire‑protection systems for construction projects in Qatar. You will ensure solutions are efficient, compliant with international standards and meet client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of domestic water supply, drainage, sewage, storm‑water and irrigation systems, including hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing and equipment selection.
• Design fire‑fighting systems such as sprinklers, stand‑pipes, fire‑hose reels and fire pumps, performing hydraulic calculations per NFPA standards.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural and other MEP disciplines, resolving clashes using BIM tools.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), NFPA and local regulations; prepare and review submissions for authority approvals.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals and method statements; respond to RFIs and support value‑engineering studies.
• Provide technical support during construction, conduct site inspections and assist with testing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10–12 years of experience in plumbing and fire‑protection design within construction projects.
• Experience in consultancy or contractor design environments.
• UPDA/MMUP certification (mandatory or preferred as per company policy).

Required skills

• Expertise in plumbing and fire‑protection system design.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, IPC/UPC and local Qatar regulations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM coordination tools.
• Experience using hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite, Pipe Flow).
